FORINA or the Indonesian Orangutan Conservation Forum was established on February 25, 2009. The idea for its formation emerged at the Orangutan Conservation Reintroduction Workshop (OCRW) in 2001 and the Orangutan PHVA Workshop in 2004 which agreed on the establishment of the Orangutan Conservation Forum (OFC), which was expected to become an institution that could oversee the process implementation of the results of the workshop. However, this wish could only be realized after the 2007-2017 Indonesian Orangutan Strategy and Action Plan was enacted, which mandated the existence of a forum to oversee the process of implementing this strategy.
VISION
FORINA's vision is to realize the preservation of orangutans and their habitat through the synergy of the participation of the parties.

As a forum for orangutan conservation in Indonesia, FORINA always strives to encourage social movements, mobilize community participation and public support in orangutan conservation efforts.
